Do as the universe does and move!
We’ve all had that urge to sleep all day, skip that planned run in the morning, or lounge around watching videos on social media.
But we’ve also all had those small success stories. Those times when our willpower won and we did what we knew we had to do. And the feeling afterward is one of accomplishment.
Add those experiences up, mix in some consistency and you get discipline.
Consistent, disciplined movement is the ultimate antidote for unwanted emotions and mental clutter.
“As above, so below”
The universe is in constant motion. The basis of life itself is substance, consciousness, and motion.
The ancient axiom “as above, so below” recognizes the correspondence between the macro and the micro. The unbreakable connection between the universal and the individual.
Aligning with the universe through motion leads to growth. Not only in your physical health but also in your mental well-being and spiritual elevation.
Conscious Movement
Running, biking, swimming, walking, working out, practicing yoga, qi gong, it’s all movement. And that’s a positive thing for your health.
But take it a step further and you get conscious movement. An intimate awareness and concentration of the body.
An awareness of the body in motion keeps your focus on the present moment and the task at hand rather than on your thoughts, which often pull you into the past or future.
Using your mind, visualize your body in motion and picture a desired outcome.
For example, while doing sit-ups, become conscious of how you feel and where you feel it. Focus on your abs, the part of the body you’re working on. Visualize the movement’s impact on your abs: strengthening the muscle with every repetition.
Synchronized Breath
Synchronizing your natural, deep diaphragmatic breathing pattern with movement gives you more fluidity and comfort.
This practice takes pressure off your chest, increases your lung capacity, and makes it easier to concentrate on your breath rather than the pain.
The breath connects the body with the mind. If your breath is haggard, out-of-control, and weak, so is your body and your mind.
Keep your breath in sync with your movement. If you change the intensity of the movement, you may have to change the rhythm of the breath.
Get moving!
When you move you are in harmony with the universe. You are abiding by universal law and are flooded with universal energy.
When you move, let your thoughts go. Focus on the motion of your body. Become aware of the rhythm of your breath. Maintain your mental presence with your physical presence.
Give your best effort every time, stay consistent, and you will feel more energy, control, and fluidity in your movements.
